Delta Airlines Crash at Toronto: 18 Injured

Toronto: A Delta Airlines flight from Minnesota to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport crashed during landing, injuring 18 people, three of whom are in critical condition.

According to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Delta Airlines flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, overturned upon landing. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will lead the investigation into the incident.

The aircraft was carrying 80 passengers, including four crew members. Delta Airlines confirmed that three passengers sustained serious injuries: a 60-year-old man, a child, and a woman in her 40s. The child has been transferred to a children's hospital, while the woman was airlifted to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Todd Etkin, Toronto Pearson’s Fire Chief, stated that emergency crews responded immediately, initiating firefighting and rescue operations. Upon arrival, they found some passengers attempting to exit the overturned aircraft. He confirmed that the runway was dry, and weather conditions were stable at the time of the crash.

Despite reports of critical injuries from emergency services, Deborah Flint, President and CEO of Toronto Pearson Airport, said she had not received information about life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities continue to examine the circumstances that led to the incident.
